Do you certified your company because the customer ask for it or because you want your company to be better structured? Director Robert van Teeffelen was very clear about this: ‘because we want to keep improving ourselves and we want to deliver good products’. With this motivation, Lion Lasers received the ISO 9001:2015 certificate on November 20, 2017.
Some people experience ISO 9001 as a burden: extra forms, work has to be done differently and an auditor who checks often. In that case you misunderstood it. ISO 9001 is not intended to give the employee more work, but to make it more efficient. You prevent errors, by recording correctly and guaranteeing errors during the production process. Fixing errors takes time. In this way we achieve the same goal as ISO 9001. Time is saved and the customer is better helped by working more efficiently. And that is what Lion Lasers wants to achieve.
In the first quarter of 2017, the quality management system of Lion Lasers was set up under the guidance of Optimaal. The current methods were critically reviewed and with a few improvements the methods were recorded in procedures. With these procedures our quality coordinator Ton was able to work with internal audits and all improvement actions in the second quarter. Thanks to his hard work and the motivated employees, Lion Lasers was ready for the first external audit in August. After the visit of Lloyd’s ‘critical auditor’, Lion Lasers was able to complete the points, so that the certificate could be obtained at the 2nd external audit.
Thanks to the intrinsic motivation of the management and the love for structure of the quality coordinator, Lion Lasers continues to improve. They want to optimize the work so that the best machines can be built. In this way they can serve the customer even better.
